Bird Rock Coffee Roasters brews one of the best coffees in the country

This month, Bird Rock Coffee Roasters was honored for brewing one of the best cups of coffee in America. Their brew won the 2016 Good Food Award for a very rare high-end coffee from Panama. A report by NBC San Diego stated that the beans are some of the most expensive and difficult ones to grow in the world. The coffee sells for $100 per pound or $11 per cup. According to the report, only 16 other coffees in San Diego received the honor, which is bestowed upon expertly crafted and sustainably produced food and beverages sourced from farming and agricultural communities. The report stated that the Good Food Awards took place in San Francisco and Bird Rock Coffee Roasters was the only award winner from San Diego out of nearly 2,000 entrants.

La Jolla baker gains national audience by claiming Food Network prize

La Jolla Light reported that Maeve Rochford, owner of Sugar and Scribe Bakery, won Food Network’s Holiday Baking Championship last month. Rochford earned a $50,000 prize and brought nationwide attention to her bakery, which is located on Fay Avenue.

San Diego Restaurant Week is in full swing

In addition to this, San Diego Restaurant Week runs from January 17th through the 24th. According to NBC San Diego, 180 restaurants in 12 regions of the county are participating in the annual weeklong event. Lajolla.com named their top five picks out of the 25 restaurants in La Jolla that have prepared prix fixe menus for the event. They are Puesto, Café la Rue, Prepkitchen, Bijou and Nine-Ten.

Following on the heels of San Diego Restaurant Week is another event that showcases La Jolla’s fine cuisine. According to Lajollabythesea, the Center Stage Wine & Chef Collaboration Dinner, which offers five courses with wine pairings, will be held on January 26th. The event’s fine cuisine is the result of a collaboration between local chefs, farmers and wine makers.

La Jolla real estate is adorned with beautiful surroundings, impressive architecture and a rich culture. These aspects of La Jolla and getting noticed across the nation through recent honors and past awards that are equally noteworthy.
